Lorie Watts, 86, Whittier, California formerly of Oblong, Illinois pased away Sunday October 2, 2005 at his residence in Whittier, California. Lorie was born on February 15, 1919 in rural Oblong, Illinois and was the son of Otto and Irene (Baker) Watts. On November 23, 1938, Lorie married Esther Adair and they were married for 66 years. Lorie grew up in the Dogwood area, attending school at Dogwood for eight years and Oblong Twp. High School - graduating in 1936. He graduated from E. I. U. - Charleston, IL in 1939 & received his Master's Degree from the University of Illinois. Lorie taught Chemisty & Physics at Oblong Twp. High School from 1939 -1942. When school was out in 1942, Lorie went to Scott Field where he was a Civilian Instructor and Writer of Air Force Textbooks. Lorie then served in the U. S. Army during W.W.II in the Infantry, and later was transferred to the Signal Corps, and then to the Air Corps. After returning home Lorie taught two years at the Bailey Technical Schools in St. Louis, and then returned to writing Textbooks at Scott Field. In 1956 Lorie moved to California and the next fourteen years were spent at North American-Rockwell as a Supervisor of Training and later as a Senior Research Engineer on the Apollo project.

Lorie is survived by his wife, Esther Watts; two son and daughter-in-law, Lorie Watts Jr. and Terry Lee & Kathy Watts; four grandchildren, Nicholas Watts, Tommy Watts, Steven Watts and Casandra Kambon; one great-granddaughter, Kahea Kambon and one sister-in-law, Virginia Watts.

Lorie is preceded by his parents; one brother,Clinton Watts; one daughter-in-law, Beatrice Watts and two aunts, Ruth Baker and Edith Granby.

Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery, Rural Oblong, Illinois.
