Dean E. Melton, 62, Oblong, Illinois died Tuesday April 5, 2005 at his residence in Oblong. Dean was born on July 3, 1942 in Crawford County, Illinois and was the son of Dollie (Melton) Bryant. On December 22, 1973 Dean married Elizabeth Ann "Betty" (Hayes) and she preceded him in death on June 16, 1995. Dean worked for Allens Carpet Cleaning and Furniture Store in Oblong for many years. He was a member of the Palestine Eagle Lodge.

Surviving Dean is his mother, Dollie Bryant; one brother, Roger Bryant; three sisters, Mary Vanetta, Norma Patterson and Patty Bailey; four aunts, Ada Newton, Gladys Coatney, Elsie Flynn and Mary Williams; one uncle, Lyman "Bud" & Barbara Melton and several nieces and nephews. Dean is preceded by his step-father, Lawrence Bryant.

Burial will be in the Harmony Cemetery, Rural Bellair, Illinois
