Charles R. “Charlie” Clark, 98, Oblong, Illinois, died Friday October 14, 2005 in the Long Term Care Unit of Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois. Charlie was born in Jasper County, The Bend Area, on March 12, 1907 and was the son of John G. Clark and Pearl (Allen) Clark. On December 24, 1929 he married Edith E. Francis, who survives. Charlie owned and operated a saw mill in the Bend area and was a retired grain and cattle farmer. Charlie was a member of the First Christian Church, Oblong, member of the original Oblong Ruritan Club, Gem City Club and Jasper County Senior Citizens painting club. His hobbies included hunting, mowing, gardening and painting. He took up painting when he retired.

Charlie is survived by his wife Edith, a son and daughter-in-law Robert “Bob” & Mary Lou Clark, one grandson and granddaughter-in-law Steve & Rhonda Clark, one granddaughter and grandson-in-law Donna & Eric Eubank, four great grandsons Kelby and Kenin Eubanks and Daniel and Dustin Clark, nephew Kenneth Clark and niece Linda Boehl.

His parents, one brother Carl Clark and one sister Dessie (Clark) Boehl, preceded Charlie in death.

Burial will be in Berlin Cemetery, rural Oblong, IL
