Madge J. Newbold, 94, Oblong, Illinois, died Wednesday January 28, 2004 at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, Illinois. Madge was born on April 5, 1919, in Willow Hill, Illinois and was the daughter of T. W. "Wayne" Leggitt and Emma (McGrew) Leggitt. On July 27, 1933 she married John Lee Newbold who died on Auigust 26, 1963. Madge was a homemaker as well as a book keeper at the Oil Belt Bank in Oblong, Illinois. She was a member of Oblong First Christian Church and was a graduate of Oblong High School Class of 1927. Madge's hobbies included gardening, sewing, knitting and flowers.

Madge is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Howard & Louise Newbold; three grandchildren Cary & Karol Newbold, Jon & Melissa Newbold and Janna & Scott Ackman; four great grandchildren Jeremy and Jenilee Ackman, Brady and Lukas Newbold; four step great grandchildren Kyle and Kaleb Farlow & Jennifer and Keith Christy; two sisters-in-laws Margaret Newbold and Grace Clements; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Her parents, husband, five brothers Ollie, John, Floyd, Bernard and Alton Leggitt and one sister LuLu Hammer all precede Madge in death.

Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery
