Josephine V. "Jo" Smith, 95, Oblong, Illinois died Friday July 23, 2004 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center, Robinson, Illinois. Jo was born in Oblong, Illinois and was the daughter of Frank J. and Leota (Walters) Ellison. On August 11, 1939, Jo married Marion K. Smith and he preceded her in death on June 25, 1988. Jo retired from the Oblong School District as a Music Teacher in 1969. She taught music for over twenty years. Jo was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Oblong, O. E. S. Kathryn Chapter, Illinois Retired Teachers Association and P. E. O. Chapter K. S., she was a graduate of Oblong High School, Class of 1937 and McMurray College in 1933.

Jo is survived by one nephew Michael D. & Trudi Southard; two nieces Myra Jo Banks and Frances "Fran" Austin; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law H. Bruce & Mary Smith; several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband, one brother: Loren Ellison; three sisters: Evelyn Ulm, Virginia Southard and Pauline Settlemeyer preceed Jo in death.

Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
