Virgil "Wayne" Yockey 80, Oblong, Illinois died Sunday September 28, 2003 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois following an apparent heart attack at home. Virgil was born August 19, 1923 in Willow Hill, Illinois and was the son of Berlyn Francis Yockey and Emma F. (Miller) Yockey. On August 28, 1948, he married Marjorie Caudle, who survives. Virgil was a construction worker with HOD. CARRIERS Local 41, Hammond, Indiana, retiring in 1989. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of First Baptist Church – Oblong, IL. He helped with the Oblong Christian Food Pantry and his hobbies included working outside, on his home, and collecting antiques.

One son and daughter-in-law Robert L. & Marilyn Yockey; a daughter and son-in-law Linda & Tim Flener; twelve grandchildren Mark & Colleen Yockey, Phillip & Kim Yockey, Andrew Yockey, Adam & Heather Yockey, Laura Yockey, Caleb Yockey, Julie Yockey, Bethany & Jeremiah Mitchell, John Wilson, Army Spec. 5th Class Luke Wilson, Rebekah Wilson and Ruth-Anna Wilson; four great grandchildren Katlin Yockey, Alexandria Yockey, Abby Yockey and Brent Yockey; 4 Brothers and sister-in-laws, Warren Yockey, Floyd "Byrl" and Mildred Yockey, Earl and Martha Yockey and Berlyn and Guyla Yockey, sister and brother-in-law Mary & Bob Wolferd; daughter-in-law Mona & Grant Neidigh as well as several nieces and nephews survive Virgil.

Virgil's parents and one son Roger, precede him in death.

Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois
