Thelma Elberta Leggitt, 89, Oblong, Illinois died Sunday September 21, 2003 at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong. Thelma was born on August 14, 1914 in Martin Township in Crawford County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Robert H. Sanders and Henrietta (Daron) Sanders. On February 15, 1934, she married Cecil B. Leggitt. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1962. Thelma was a farm wife and cooked at Oblong High School. She was a member of Seed Chapel Church rural Oblong where she was very active. Her hobbies included quilting and gardening.

Surviving Thelma are a son and daughter-in-law Marion & Joan Leggitt; a daughter and son-in-law Lora M. & Dane Branson; eight grandchildren Penny & Jamie Serio, Patsy & Dan Phelan, Polly & Phillip Fougerousse, Robin & Todd Obert, Myron Leggitt, Angela Leggitt, Bradley Branson and Mitzi Gervais; seven great grandchildren Jacquline Serio, Jillian Serio, Spencer Serio, Kayla Phelan, Amanda Branson, Brandon Branson and Amber Gervais; daughter-in-law Francis Leggitt; sisters-in-law Pauline Sanders and Bernice Sanders as well as several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband, one son Wilfred Leggitt, two brothers Elmer and Robert Sanders and two sisters Arta LeFever and Ellen Stone precede Thelma in death.

Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery.
