Russell D. McCoy 87, Oblong, Illinois died Tuesday December 9, 2003 at the Long Term Care Unit of Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, Illinois. He was born December 1, 1916 in Jasper County, Illinois and was the son of Everett McCoy and Vinnie Gifford. On October 5, 1940 he married Twila Virginia Robinson, who died October 19, 2000. Russell retired from the Caterpiller Tractor Company, Peoria, Illinois after working there for 35 years. He was a member of the White Oak Christian Church rural Oblong. Russell was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He served in the South Pacific receiving an Honorable Discharge on October 24, 1945. He was a Lifetime Member of the Robinson V.F.W., Lifetime Member of the Oblong American Legion Post #219 and Graduated from Willow Hill High School in 1934.

Russell is survived by a nephew Jim Wiman; three nieces and nephews-in-laws Marilyn & Charles Blair, Sandy & Willard Chapman, and Sue & Dan Wells; sister-in-law Bonnie McCoy; and several great nieces and nephews.

His parents, wife, one brother Gene McCoy and one sister Mabel Wiman precede Russell in death.

Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, rual Jasper County, Illinois.
