Roger M. Henry 59, Oblong, IL. died Monday February 3, 2003 in the Long Term Care Unit at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, from a kidney disease. Roger was born in Crawford County north of Oblong on September 1, 1943 and was the son of Elmer Henry and Bernice (Snyder) Henry. On March 6, 1962, he married Diana Smothers. Roger had been involved in agri-business in the Crawford County area for 30 years. He was first employed by L. Gene Hamilton of Annapolis and then by Farm Service. He managed the Oblong plant until 1999. Under his management, the plant received Location of the Year, 3 years in a row. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oblong, Illinois. At the age of 13, Roger was saved and baptized at the Dogwood Methodist Church. In 1962, Roger joined the First Baptist Church of Oblong, and was active there until his stroke in 1988. He was a former member of both the Robinson & Oblong Gun Clubs. Roger was an avid hunter and trap shooter.

He is survived by his wife Diana; two daughters and sons-in-laws Teresa & Mark Fielder and Lori & Kevin Davis; grandchildren Lyndsay Nicole Fielder, D. J. Davis, Nicole DiAnn Davis and Jackson Jenkins; four brothers and sisters-in-laws Mack & Carolyn Henry, Richard & Barbara Henry, Clair Henry, Bruce Henry; four sisters and brothers-in-laws Pat Hanna, Eileen Randolph, Sue & Bill Shoemaker and Judy & Jim Mann; sister-in-law Carol Henry; parents-in-law Juanita & Glenn Hulen; two aunts Myrtle Lynch and Berniece Henry as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Roger in death were his parents, one brother Jim Henry and one infant sister Norma.

Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery.
