Mary Ellen Dalrymple, 83, of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, formerly of Oblong, Illinois passed away about 11:00 a.m. on Saturday September 20, 2003 at her residence following a heart attack.

Born on July 31, 1920, in Oblong, Illinois, she was the daughter of Clarence and Edna (Price) Sheets. She graduated in 1941 from St. Luke's Nursing School; Chicago, IL. and entered the service with the Women's Army Nursing Corp. During WWII she was stationed in Malvern, England and later in Rheim's, France with the 55th General Hospital. She retired in 1978, as Director of Nursing for the Obstetrics department from
Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, Illinois. She was a life long member of the Central United Methodist Church of Oblong.

On July 5, 1946, she married William Wallace Dalrymple who preceded her in death on January 6. 1999. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy White and Barbara Breen; four grandchildren Jennifer Scherer, Sarah Scherer, Tyler White and Allison White; a sister

Evelyn Wirt; brother-in-law & sister-in-law Minor & Maylo Dalrymple; nephews and nieces George & Mary Jo Whiston, Steve & Deb Wirt, Cindy Vaughn, Dorothy Jean Rutherman, Hal & Gail Sheets and Rob & Lisa Dalrymple: as well as several great nieces and great nephews.

Preceding Mary Ellen in death are her parents, a son at birth, Bruce Allen; two brothers Harold and Howard Sheets; three sisters Caroline Brown, Helen Whiston and Marie Eileen her twin sister who died at birth and a niece Sue Ellen Whiston Waldrop.
