Dean Tainer 74, Oblong, Illinois, died Saturday November 29, 2003 at Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, IL. Dean was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on May 8, 1929 and was the son of Bessie Tainer. Dean was a "Handyman" for many years for many people in the Oblong area. He was a devoted member of the First Christian Church of Oblong. Dean wrote poetry and had some of his poems published. He was Santa's helper in Oblong for twenty years, a care giver, whistled, sang and loved his church and God. Dean was the first resident of Ridgeview Care Center and had lived there for thirty years.

Dean is survived by seven cousins, Elsie Burgess, Carolyn Burgess, Dan Burgess, Jim Burgess, Brenda Hall, Rocky Lewis and David Norman Lewis.

Dean's mother Bessie preceded him in death dying in 1967.

Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery
