Betty Jane Thacker 67, Oblong, Illinois died Saturday September 6,
2003 at her residence following several months of declining health.
Betty was born on March 31, 1936 in Parker Twp., Clark County Illinois and
was
the daughter of Russell F. and Mary J. (Stricker) Black. On November
6, l954 Betty married Paul B. Thacker and he survives her. Betty was a homemaker
and had worked five years on the line and recoup department of L.S.
Heath
and Sons Candy Plant in Robinson, Illinois. She was a member of the
First Christian Church of Oblong, Illinois where she was a Sunday School
teacher;
she was also a member of the Oblong Ruritan Club. Betty was a totally
devoted & loving
wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. She was a wonderful, thoughtful,
very caring and giving person. Always thinking of others first, ever
ready to help or lend a hand to family, church, community or friends in what
ever
way she could. Often thought of and loved by many friends near and
far.
Surviving Betty is her husband: Paul B. Thacker; two sons and daughters-in-law:
Robert P. & Marlene Thacker and Marty & Kim Thacker; one daughter:
Sheryl J. McMillan; six grandchildren: Shannon Chenevert, Paige Thacker,
Mitch Thacker, Grayson Thacker, Kelcey Thacker & Camden Thacker; two
great grandsons: Brandon Chenevert & Bretton Chenevert; two brothers
and sisters-in-law: Bill & Louise Black and Robert & Jewel Black;
six sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Melvin & Margaret Thacker, Lenora
Boughan, Leona Thacker, Kenneth & Wilma Thacker, Mary Lou & Ray Broadwater
and Norma Jean & Larry Shacklee; several nieces & nephews.
Preceding Betty in death were her parents: Russell & Mary Black; one
brother: Ron Black; one granddaughter: Charity Lynn King; her mother-in-law & father-in-law:
Lena & Willie Thacker; several other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Burial will be in Waggoner Cemetery, Chauncey, Illinois
